New Flights to Central America Flight Attendants Frontier Airlines

A few new flights to Central America have sprung up last week, giving options to those looking to travel to Nicaragua from the US through other Central American countries.

This might have limited appeal, however, the Costa Rica flights may help those choosing to visit Nicaragua by flying into CR and then entering Nicaragua by land.

The El Salvador route may help those looking to connect at San Salvador airport with an Avianca flight to Managua.

What caught my eye was the positive news from the Ontario (California) Airport CEO; Mark Thorpe, who said that “Our flight schedule will reach 90 percent of pre-pandemic levels this month (July 2021) as Ontario experiences the quickest recovery among airports in California.”

Avianca (Miami-Costa Rica)

Bringing back the San José, Costa Rica to Miami route was announced earlier this year by Avianca and on Thursday the 1st of July, they made good with that plan and the inaugural flight of the daily service between Miami and the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO), in San José.

Avianca will be using the Airbus A320 which can carry 150 passengers and enable them to provide 1,050 seats per week on each leg of the route.

Providing a direct connection to Miami opens up many possibilities to connect Costa Rica to hundreds of flights in and out of the Florida airport.

From San José the flight number is AV690 leaving at 10:35am and arriving in Miami at 3:38pm.
From Miami the flight number is AV691 leaving at 2:10pm and arriving in San José at 3:23pm

Avianca (Ontario International Airport, ONT-El Salvador International Airport)

As announced back in February of this year, Avianca are now flying out of Southern California departing from the Ontario Airport International Airport (ONT) on a route to El Salvador (SAL).

It’s a celebration for the “Inland Empire” area of Southern California and its population of 4 million with the first of its kind flight from the International Airport there to the “Aeropuerto Internacional de El Salvador San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez.

Arrival times at the California Airport are 11:30 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The return flights leave California for El Salvador at 1:15 a.m. The flights will use the Airbus 319 aircraft with a passenger capacity of up to 120 passengers in business and economy class.

Frontier Airlines (Orlando-Costa Rica and Miami-Costa Rica)

The low-cost Frontier Airlines also added to the new flights to Central America list by making their maiden flights last week from Orlando and Miami Florida to San José, Costa Rica. Both routes will be available twice per week.

The Orlando– San José flights (originally announced as Thursday and Sunday) are showing as Friday and Monday.

The Miami-San José Jose flights are on Mondays and Fridays.
