New Tourist Routes and Updated Interactive Map

The Nicaraguan Tourism Institute (INTUR) has announced an update of the National Tourism Map and introduced 12 new “Tourist Routes” as a method of promoting various zones to national and international visitors.

Anasha Campbell (INTUR Co-Director) announced that the National Tourism Map was first introduced in 2016 has already been updated. However, this latest upgrade includes new graphics, logo, audiovisual components as well as photographs and videos.

The new tourist routes highlight some of the tourist features that differentiate the various regions, whether it’s geographic, historic, cultural or even gastronomic.

For example;

The Segovian Route takes in three northern departments, Estelí, Madriz and Nueva Segovia and features a more mountainous terrain with a cooler climate and is known for coffee production.

The routes of Matagalpa and Jinotega feature agriculture, nature and an outdoor experience.

As heritage cities, León and Granada are steeped in history and architecture and have produced some of the country’s best traditions.

For those fascinated by volcanoes, there is plenty to see on the route that takes in some of Nicaragua’s best volcanos and crater lakes, including volcano boarding.

If cattle and dairy interest you, then the Boaca and Chontales routes showcase Nicaragua’s finest cattle and dairy producing departments.

National and international visitors all love to visit the “Artisan Towns” around Masaya https://www.mapanicaragua.com/masaya/ known for their crafts, such as; art, hammocks, leather goods and candies, as well as plants and garden ornaments.

Rutas Playeras, the Beach Routes explore the Pacific Coast and the tourism offerings of surfing, sunsets, sport fishing, sailing, diving, whale watching and everything that goes with a beach vacation from Chinandega in the north to Rivas in the south.

The “Gastronomic” routes include the quesillos of Nagarote and La Paz Center, the rosquillas of Rivas, Granada’s contribution of Vigoron, Güirilas from Matagalpa as well as Rondon from RACCS. Full list here: https://www.mapanicaragua.com/ruta-gastronomica/
