Managua – Saturday 22nd July 2023, the Government of Nicaragua has announced that as of this date, the requirement to present a Covid 19 Vaccination Card or PCR Test Certificate has been lifted and therefore all COVID 19 Entry Restrictions upon entering Nicaragua are no longer in effect. They will no longer be requesting vaccine cards or PCR tests from visitors to Nicaragua.
The official announcement (Resolución Ministerial –360–2023) was made by Dr. Martha Reyes the Minister of Health of Nicaragua;
“ MINSA (the Ministry of Health of Nicaragua has considered the declaration provided by the WHO (World Health Organization) in relation to Covid-19 and since it no longer constitutes an emergency situation at the international level and in order to strengthen national epidemiological control, Nicaragua has reformed the Ministerial Resolution number 136 2023, dated March 17, 2023, referring to diseases under international surveillance, including respiratory diseases at all points of entry into the country,” explained the Minister”
She went on to say; “The Ministry of Health, in the context of the surveillance of Covid-19 worldwide and at the national level, has decided to annul the COVID 19 Entry Restrictions that correspond to presenting the vaccination card against or a negative PCR result for Covid-19, for travelers entering the country. This ministerial resolution takes effect as of the date”.
Reyes confirmed that as of today, it is no longer necessary to present the vaccination card or the alternative negative PCR test when entering the country.
Yellow Fever
However, she did remind travelers that the yellow fever requirements are still in effect and will be maintained. That is; “If you travel from endemic countries you have to be vaccinated against yellow fever and be in possession of valid proof which is your yellow fever card showing a vaccination not less than 10 days previously”.
Reyes also stated that they (MINSA) will continue to monitor the temperature of visitors at all points of entry as part of the national surveillance and detection of health risks.
