The Easter Holiday is one of the busiest times for the General Directorate of Migration and Immigration. Holy Week in Nicaragua in 2024 is officially from Palm Sunday March 24th until Easter Sunday March 31st.
Migracion have organized special schedules and hours to facilitate the movement of people across the border points as well as those needing services from any of the Immigration Service Centers known as SERTRAMI’s (Servicio de Trámites Migratorios).
Lieutenant Paola Valeria Cortés Sánchez, the Second in Command of the General Directorate of Migration and Immigration invites Nicaraguans and citizens of other nationalities to carry out their immigration procedures on a daily basis during the main (Easter) week.- El 19
The two official Statutory Holidays for Easter Week 2024 are: Maundy Thursday – March 28th and Good Friday – March 29th.
State Workers Holidays
State Workers in non-essential positions will be on a ten day vacation from the close of business this Friday the 22nd of March 2024 and will return to work on Tuesday 2nd of April 2024.
Easter and Nicaragua Immigration Hours
Immigration Offices (for Extensions of Stay – Citizens of Other Nationalities).
Central Immigration (Managua) as well as all of the departmental SERTRAMI’s (Immigration Service Centers) will provide services from Monday to Saturday inclusive from 8:00 am until 5:00pm
Metrocentro and Plaza de las Américas
The two SERTRAMI’s located within shopping centers in Managua (Metrocentro and Plaza de las Américas ) will be open on Saturdays from 8:00am until 5:00pm as well as from 10am to 1pm on Sundays. NOTE; because of their close proximity to Central HQ, these two commercial building locations don’t provide foreigners with the “Extensions of Stay” service.
Border Posts
At Peñas Blancas, Nicaraguan Immigration Services will be open daily from 6:00 am until 12 midnight.

Immigration at Las Manos, El Espino and Guasaule, as well as the International Airport in Managua will be operational 24 hours a day.
San Carlos and San Pancho will both be open from 6am until 5pm.
