Statistics on the first semester exports from Nicaragua (January-June inclusive) show a continued upward trend in Nicaraguan exports according to the Export Processing Center of Nicaragua known as CENTREX (Centro de Trámite de Exportaciones).
The first six months of 2021 show almost US $1.9 Billion in total exports, a figure that represents an 18.1% growth on a year to a year comparison to the same period last year.
Main Export Products
Raw gold again leads the pack with a little over US $431 million of the precious metal being exported (63% more than the same six months of last year).
A different type of gold; Café Oro wasn’t far behind with almost US $369 million of exports.

Beef 320 million (up by 17.4%), sugar cane; 100 million, peanuts; 56 million (up by 14.3%), beans; 50 million, farmed shrimp; 34 million (up by 26.1%), morolique (white cheese); 34 million, various drinks and liquid products; 27 million, fish; 26 million (up by 18.5%), other seafood; 23 million (up by 53.2%), oils and fats; 21 million, raw tobacco; 18 million, mozzarella cheese; 18 million, processed cigars; 16 million, lobsters; 16 million, rum; 12 million, cattle; 8 million, processed coffee; 7 million and bananas; 4 million.
Trading Partners
Almost US $900 million of these products went to the United States, Nicaragua’s number one trading partner. Central America was the number two market with almost US $268 million.

Commercial Port Report, Corinto (Monday June 28th to Sunday July 4th, 2021)
With all this activity in first semester exports from Nicaragua, the commercial ports in Nicaragua have been busy. In this last full of Monday June 28th to Sunday July 4th, 2021, a total of 10 international cargo vessels were serviced by the various ports managed by the National Port Authority known as the EPN (Empresa Portuaria Nacional).
For example at the Port of Corinto on the Pacific side, 7 international vessels were serviced, three of them being container ships which brought in a total of 1,234 containers to Nicaragua.
On the outgoing side, a total of 629 containers were exported for a total volume of 3,141 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit). History of the TEU.
In addition, they unloaded a tanker that had brought in 7,984 tons of diesel, a bulk carrier with 5,000 tons of fertilizers and two “Roll On-Roll Off” vessels brought in 621 new vehicles.
