Some positive news from the tourism sector as the Gran Hotel Victoria, a four star hotel in Rivas, held its grand opening on the 23rd of July 2022.
This new 24 room hotel is situated on the south side of the central park (and just down from the famous Restaurante Chop Suey) is the first Four Star hotel in Rivas. The owners have transformed the original property, a large old Colonial style adobe house, into the hotel while retaining the heritage of the original building, especially the front elevation facing the central park.
As well as the rooms, two of which are “suites”, the two story building has a large rooftop terrace, two event or meeting rooms and a large swimming pool and courtyard offering plenty of common area spaces for guests to enjoy.
Vigarny Argüello, the co-owner of the Gran Hotel Victoria announced that “The investment was his family’s contribution to the future of Nicaragua and that as a family, they all believe in Nicaragua and its people”.
The US $2.5 million project used all Nicaraguan sourced materials, a Nicaraguan construction company and Nicaraguan employees.
Representatives from the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (INTUR) were on hand for the inauguration and Yaosca Calderón Martín (Co-Director of INTUR) said that “We are proud to be part of this important day and the opening of the new hotel which will strengthen the local tourism sector”.
The hotel project was originally announced in 2018 as a result of a market study which revealed that Rivas was lacking a hotel of this standard that could accommodate a large group.
This four star hotel in Rivas is of Mediterranean style and all guests are looked after by a 24 hour room service. The rooms offer a variety of bed combinations from a single to a suite, all with; air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, comfortable bedding, Wi-Fi, 24 hour secure parking and a complimentary breakfast.
On the second floor of the Grand Hotel Victoria is a bar and lounge with a rooftop terrace overlooking the park and Ometepe in the distance.
