The General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners (La Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería), referred to colloquially as “Migración” will be open during Easter to serve citizens of Nicaragua and foreigners. Immigration Nicaragua will guarantee attention at Migración Headquarters in Managua as well as border posts and Immigration Procedures Service Offices around the country.
Migración announced that from March 27th to April 5th the directorate will guarantee immigration services to nationals and other nationalities.
“If any Nicaraguan families or citizens of other nationalities wish to handle any immigration procedure during this vacation period, they can do so with the confidence that we will be attending to them every day through the holidays providing safe and efficient attention at all offices at the national level”

The locations where any of the Migración procedures and services may be requested are Migración Headquarters in Managua and any of the departmental SERTRAMI offices (Immigration Procedures Service or Servicio de Trámites Migratorios).
HOURS:
Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Migración Headquarters in Managua and SERTRAMI offices.
Also, the Metrocentro and Multicentro las Américas shopping center locations will be open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and on Sundays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Note; The service of an Extension of Stay (Prórroga de Estancia) for foreign visitors has not been available at these two satellite locations for some time.
Costa Rica Re-Opens Border
Starting on April 5th 2021, Costa Rica will reopen its land borders to tourism.
No official word yet on how Immigration Nicaragua will be dealing with the Extension of Stay (Prórroga de Estancia). However, the current in-country 30 day extensions may cease and the usual procedures for a 90 day stay may resume.
All travelers entering Costa Rica must have completed the health pass information and have obtained the required medical insurance (covering the length of their stay).
Costa Rica land borders have been closed since March 18th, 2020, as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19. Entry by air has been permitted since August 2020.
