As the tourism sector in Nicaragua lives in hope of more US flights to the Managua International Airport, some of those absent airlines (as well as those currently flying into Managua) continue to announce flights to new destinations in Central and Latin America.
Copa Airlines
Copa has announced a nonstop flight between Panama City and Atlanta, Georgia. The four times a week flight offers the opportunity to access a variety of connections across Latin America, including Managua, Nicaragua (for Copa’s daily flight into MGA).
The Boeing 737-800 will have 138 seats in the main cabin and 16 business-class. It will leave Panama’s Tocumen International Airport in the mornings on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday and return on those same evenings from Atlanta.
Delta Airlines
Delta has also expanded into Panama with three new routes; New York, Orlando and Los Angeles (as well, an additional flight will be added to the existing service out of its base in Atlanta).
As above, passengers from those four major U.S. cities may be able to connect to Managua, Nicaragua using the daily Copa flight.
Other new, non- Nicaragua related US flights
United Airlines
The latest new flight is a United Airlines nonstop from Denver, Colorado (DEN) to Roatan, Honduras (RTB). The weekly flight, using a Boeing 737 aircraft will fly on Saturdays.
Stats from Denver International Airport showed that since 2019, almost 4,000 people traveled between Denver and Roatan using various connecting flights. (Source; Simple Flying)
This new United flight is the first airline to connect Denver with Honduras, a CA-4 (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua) country.
American Airlines
American Airlines recently added to its Mexico listings with its Miami (MIA) to Chetumal (CTM) route, their 28th destination to their southern neighbors.
