There are two separate categories of Nicaragua Entry Requirements listed by the Ministerio de Gobernación (MIGOB) also known as the Ministry of the Interior, the umbrella department that includes the General Directorate of Migration and Immigration.
The Procedure Information Portal of the MIGOB web site shows two boxes;
Entry Requirements for Visitors of other Nationalities by Land
and
Entry Requirements for Visitors of other Nationalities by Air
There are only two differences to each list, namely; the requirement by those entering by land to complete the “Application for Orderly and Secure Entry” and the second being a slight difference in entry fees for tourism. See text below in bold print.
1) Application for orderly and secure entry, which must be submitted before entering the country.
THIS NOT REQUIRED FOR THOSE ENTERING BY AIR see link above to Entry Requirements for Visitors of other Nationalities by Air
2) Upon entering (through an authorized border post), you must comply with the immigration clearance procedure. This includes providing a specific address and telephone number for health follow-up purposes.
3) Present a passport valid for more than six months and in good condition.
4) NOTE: Nationals of CA-4 member countries (Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras) may enter Nicaragua by presenting an original and current identity card and are exempt from immigration fees.
5) Carry an entry visa in the case of persons from countries that require one.
6) Present a valid Residency Card (or proof of being in the renewal process if applicable).
7) Present proof of having completed a vaccination scheme against COVID-19, OR for those people who don’t or can’t comply with the complete vaccination scheme, they must present a negative result of an RT-PCR test for COVID-19 that was carried out in a period not exceeding 72 hours before entering Nicaragua.
Note: Item 7) is in pursuant to MINSA Resolution 309-2022 and its Explanatory Notes. (The explanatory notes allow for the production of a physical vaccination certificate (in good condition) or a digital image.
8) Yellow fever vaccination card, if you come from a country at risk (according to the WHO list). This card does not expire but again the vaccination card must be in good condition.
9) Economic solvency.
10) Upon entry to Nicaragua, pay the immigration fees of; a US $3 entry fee (NOT REQUIRED BY THOSE ENTERING BY AIR) and US $10 for the INTUR Tourist Card (ALSO REQUIRED FOR THOSE ENTERING BY AIR).
Note: Fees relating to Nicaragua Entry Requirements are established in Law 761, General Law on Migration and Immigration and its Regulations as well as Law 495, General Tourism Law).
Note:
Transit passengers must meet these requirements in addition to those required by the country of their final destination.
The procedures for entering with transport (by land), household items or animals must be carried out before the corresponding authorities.
The visa granted to citizens of another nationality does not imply their unconditional admission to the territory, regardless of their migratory category, if they have been included in the grounds for inadmissibility of Law 761 “General Law of Migration and Aliens” and its regulations.
