Pickleball in Nicaragua – If you are in the San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua area, you can join the millions of people in the USA and around the world who have taken up this easy to learn game.
Played on a court similar to tennis but much smaller, the game is based on a combination of tennis, table tennis and badminton. It is fast, exciting and keeps you fit.
Pickleball originated in Pacific Northwest of the United States as long ago as 1965 yet is currently the “fastest growing sport in North America”.
Its surge in popularity can be attributed to some of the celebrity players that have given it exposure over the last few years. According to an article in Racket Sports World, some of those famous players helping to raise the temperature of pickleball fever are; George and Amal Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Bill Gates.
Pickleball is played as far away as China, India, Australia and now; Nicaragua at Pickleball San Juan del Sur.

How is it Played?
As stated above, the pickleball court is based on games such as tennis, table tennis and badminton. In fact, the court has the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court, measuring 20×44 feet (about 6 x13 meters). The net height is 34 inches in the middle and 36 inches at the sidelines.
As with other similar sports, pickleball can be played by two people (singles game) or four (doubles game). There is no difference in court size between doubles and singles.
The game has been adopted by adults for social fitness and even more so by children who are always looking for something new to do.
So, now is the time to start honing your skills in readiness for the league that will begin this November and the tournaments that are planned for the beginning of 2023.
Where Can I Play?
San Juan del Sur’s brand new pickleball court is conveniently located a short distance from the north end of the Bay in the La Talanguera neighborhood, just 300 steps from the beach.
Spectators can watch games comfortably in shade provided by the abundant fruit trees that adorn the court. Bring your fans to cheer you on!
Equipment is provided however you should wear athletic shoes, bring a towel and be ready to have fun.
Purified drinking water is available to players and spectators.
Private parking is under construction and will be completed shortly.

Hours are 6am to 6pm seven days a week. Reservations must be made at least 12 hours in advance.
Court rental is $11.50 per hour.
This is a no smoking and no pet facility.
