Since the recent American Airlines announcement, strong rumors circulated that the Spirit Airlines Managua flights would also be resuming at the same time. Given the multiple restart dates and later cancellations, the news was met with skepticism until an official press release from Spirit themselves.
That announcement came yesterday with news that a daily, non-stop low cost flight will resume between Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Managua (MGA) on November 30th 2022;
Spirit Airlines (NYSE: SAVE) today announced the resumption of its daily, nonstop service connecting Managua (MGA) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). Spirit’s return to the market plays a pivotal role in offering both convenience and affordability for family and friends to reconnect with one another, and the service provides opportunities to explore Nicaragua’s historic sites, vibrant culture and natural beauty.

The route will use the 228 seat capacity Airbus A321.
Prices are as low as US $108 one-way if using Spirit’s “Saver$ Club”.
Flight NK 435 is scheduled to depart from Fort Lauderdale at 23:45hrs and arrive in Managua at 01:23hrs the next day.
The flight from Managua to Fort Lauderdale (NK 434) is scheduled to depart Managua at 02:30hrs and should arrive back in Florida at 06:00hrs.

Spirit had enjoyed a 15 year history of flying to and from Managua as the only low fare daily, nonstop service. This will be the first flight to the largest country in Central America since March 2020 and the worldwide reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Fort Lauderdale (FLL) is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) from Miami Airport (MIA) and it takes a little over half an hour to drive between the two.
