The Banpro digital strategy recognized that the Covid-19 Pandemic had accelerated the trend towards digitization in the financial services sector.

Banpro Grupo Promerica says they were quick to adapt to the new demands and in particular, equally quick to offer clients new products that enable a contactless banking experience. In 2020 they introduced digital systems such as; the Payment Sticker for your phone and also the electronic device called a Payment Bracelet. Other systems used in the Banpro digital strategy include Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay (digital watches), Promerica pay (digital wallet), Payphone (telephone app) and the NIDI (a virtual store).

In a Revista Estrategia & Negocios article, Banpro claim that in the first few months of 2021, more than 70% of transactions were being processed using digital systems. They believe the success of their digital switch was listening to what their customers wanted and making them a part of the process in order to advance the digital transformation. In January 2021, they handled 5.15 million transactions, up 11.6% on the same period in 2020.

Earlier this year, Banpro Grupo Promerica was voted Number 1 business in Nicaragua for best work environment, human talent and customer service in a survey conducted by SUMMA Magazine.

Founded in 1991 as Banco de la Producción, SA (Banpro), as a private company in the financial services business. Out of all the current banks in Nicaragua, Banpro was the first to open its doors in Nicaragua when private investment was revived in Nicaragua. Since its inception, Banpro has enjoyed a sustained growth in assets. As a result, it has become the largest bank in the country and in the top 20 in Central America in terms of assets.
