On Good Friday 2022, the Government of Nicaragua announced that fuel prices were frozen for the third week, including the popular diesel fuel used by freight carriers and public transport and LPG (Propane) used in cooking.
For this upcoming week, the price of a gallon of diesel should have increased by US $0.46, however that increase, as well as the super and regular gasoline increases will be absorbed by the distributors.
It will be the same for the proposed increase to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The increase will also be absorbed, see below.
Pump Prices –Fuel
Since the start of 2022, Nicaraguan consumers have faced nine weekly increases to the one drop in price for gasoline and diesel increased nine times.
The latest act of fuel prices being frozen covers the period from Sunday April 17th to Saturday April 23rd and ensures that the price of gasoline and diesel will remain the same as they have been since the last week of March 2022.

Gasoline Super: 48.04 Córdobas
Gasoline Regular: 46.92 Córdobas
Diesel: 42.75 Córdobas
In gallons (3.78 liters) and US Dollars;
Super gasoline compares at US $5.19, regular at $5.07 and diesel US $4.58
Year to Date
Between the 3rd of January 2022 and the 11th of April 2022, the average price of gasoline (95 octane) in Nicaragua was 44.26 Córdobas per liter. The low this year was 41.48 Córdobas and the high was 48.97 Córdobas.
LPG – Propane
The above announcement, made through the Ministry of Energy and Mines, and the Nicaraguan Institute of Energy (INE) also included the freezing of consumer prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the 10 pound, 25 pound and 100 pound tanks.
The last published regulated prices for Managua shows the maximum consumer price for the typical 25 pound domestic tank is 436 Córdobas. Prices vary depending on location (transport costs), for example; in the City of Rivas its 443.75 Córdobas (add 7.25 Córdobas to that price for San Juan de Sur).
