According to the NICARAGUAN INSTITUTE OF ENERGY (Instituto Nicaragüense de Energía or INE) web site, as of this week, fuel prices in Nicaragua for regular and super gasoline, as well as diesel and kerosene, are now in the “40 something” Córdobas price range per liter.

22 February 222 – Official Exchange Rate (not buy/sell) is 35.6232 Córdobas to One US Dollar.

Although not regulated by the government, the oil sector consumer prices are monitored by the Nicaraguan Institute of Energy.

The wholesale fuel prices are established weekly by the distribution companies based on the variations in the international prices of these derivatives.

Prices at the pump are at “free market prices” (precio de mercado libre) across the country.

So far in 2022, there have been five increases and one decrease in the price of regular and super gasoline. Meanwhile, diesel has gone up six times and kerosene eight times.

The latest INE consumer price survey was carried out in the country’s capital of Managua, yesterday; Monday the 21st of February, 2022.

The survey includes a pump price check of gasoline, diesel and kerosene at 69 service stations with the results listed on their web site.

The prices of these products in the remainder of the country are usually higher when the cost of distribution to the various departments is factored into the wholesale price.
