A Covid-19 PCR Test can be obtained in Nicaragua by citizens and visitors who are required to prove they are negative by the country they will be travelling (or returning to).

The testing was first announced in Managua on the 17 of July 2020, shortly after the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua was re-opened for incoming and outgoing flights.

The testing procedure (outlined below) was established in direct response to the requirement by some destination countries for a negative Covid 19 test result to be produced upon arrival (and possibly prior to boarding in Managua).

There is one location for a Covid 19 Test in Nicaragua and it’s in Managua at the National Center for Diagnosis and Reference (CNDR) in the Dra. Concepción Palacios National Health Complex.

Press Release from MINSA (Ministry of Health – Nicaragua)

The Nicaraguan Ministry of Health (MINSA) will be providing authorized tests to detect covid-19 (for people who wish to travel outside the country and who need one for their destination country). The cost of this service is US $150.

Tests will only be carried out at the National Center for Diagnosis and Reference (CNDR), the only laboratory that is currently allowed to carry out PCR tests. These tests will be done from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The results would be delivered the same day at the end of the afternoon, between 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Those who wish to be tested must present their identification card (cedula) or passport and they will also have to present the ticket or flight itinerary.

They will be able to deposit the $150 in Banpro either in dollars to the account 10010012253774 or Córdobas to the account 10010002253784 registered under the name of: TGR-MINSA.

Also, cash payments will be received in the general box of the Dra. Concepción Palacios National Health Complex.
