The Nicaraguan Beer Company, Compañía Cervecera de Nicaragua S.A. (CCN) has launched Miller Lite beer in Nicaragua and joins only three other countries in Latin America; Mexico, Panama and Colombia licensed to produce the product in Nicaragua.

In a press release from CCN, Benjamin Matthews (CCN’s Senior Manager of Alliances and Supply Chain) said “Compañía Cervecera de Nicaragua S.A. was certified by Molson Coors Beverage Co (the brewing giant that owns the brand) to produce Miller Lite after five rigorous trial brews.”

Miller Lite was born in 1975 at what was then the Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a company funded by Frederick Miller and was the start of the “Light Beer” trend.

Miller Lite Beer is described as being “easy to drink and great tasting”. Officially, Miller describes it as an American style pilsner beer with an alcohol by volume strength of 4.2%. Miller says “this light beer has a light to medium body with a hop forward flavor, solid malt character and a clean finish”.

It was last August 2020 when the Molson Coors Beverage Co. and CCN inked the deal that put the expansion into Nicaragua into motion that now sees (The Original) Miller Lite beer being brewed, marketed and distributed across Nicaragua.

For Molson Coors, this was groundbreaking step into Nicaragua as they continue to expand their brand name into Latin America. With this deal, Molson Coors add Nicaragua to their ever expanding brand recognition in the Latin America region, especially in the countries of Mexico, Panama, Honduras, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile.

The Compañía Cervecera de Nicaragua S.A. was founded in Managua in 1926 and is Central America’s largest brewery. It produces the country’s top labels such as; Victoria, Victoria Frost, Victoria Maestro, Toña, Toña Light, Mytos and Premium. Before this deal with Nicaragua was signed, CNN were already producing Miller Lite under contract with Molson Coors for export to Honduras and El Salvador.
